For the first time in its seven-year history, the Redfish Cup visited the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the season-ending championship in 2008. Because of the support displayed by residents of both Biloxi and D’Iberville the Redfish Cup will return to the area August 27-30.

With rebuilding efforts in full swing throughout the region, casinos, hotels and other travel industry has returned Biloxi/D’Iberville to a destination hotspot. But the bigger redfish slot size and abundance of healthy fish has also attracted scores of the nation’s top anglers.

During the 2008 championship, fishing fans across the Magnolia State saw some of the biggest redfish ever weighed at a Redfish Cup event, setting new single-day and two-day weight records. From Biloxi marsh to the Chandelier Islands to Davis Bayou, the Redfish Cup’s top 20 anglers filled hefty bags consistently.   And when the dust cleared for Sunday’s weigh-in, Paul Jueckstock and Manny Perez hoisted the Redfish Cup in victory.
