LOW TIDES COULD EQUAL HIGHER WEIGHTS ON DAY ONE - During Day One’s launch of the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup event in Punta Gorda, Redfish Cup staff spoke down to anglers as they readied for the 7:00 a.m. launch—way down.
With the moon in full retreat, the tides on Florida’s west coast meant the 49 boats in line for boat inspection were at least four feet below the docks at the Laishley Park Municipal Marina.
FORGETTING NOTHING - An hour and forty-five minutes into his drive from Naples to Punta Gorda for the first Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup of the season, Andrew Bostick realized he forgot something—something big.
Namely, the Redfish Cup championship trophy.
MOVING DAY IN PUNTA GORDA -Saturday morning’s weather conditions in Punta Gorda look ideal for local residents seeking a relaxing day on the water. But for the 49 teams hoping to make Sunday’s final day of the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup, absent winds, bluebird skies, and high pressure in the area will fail to calm any nerves on Day Two.

EASY LIKE SUNDAY MORNING? - Before launch on Day Three of the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup, ten professional redfish anglers appeared refreshed and relaxed. No last-minute tackle preparations occupied the field like those experienced on prior days. These teams were ready to begin their quest to win the first, and some say most difficult, tournament of the year.
Mike Del Duca sipped his tall coffee deliberately. Heath Seckel and Brian Ulch posed for pictures with Ulch’s father, Kurt...
PERFECT IN PUNTA GORDA -Andrew Bostick and Mark Sepe can only pose with day-winning redfish a few different ways.
So the Florida anglers decided to strike a different pose for their third-straight win on Sunday, as the 2007 Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup champions wrapped up their wire-to-wire win in Punta Gorda with two fish weighing 13.15 pounds.
